HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

Our humble beginnings started in David Fidler's shed as Solent Business Supplies, where he started selling second hand office furniture. Servicing a fast growing market, Solent Business Supplies acquired its first corner shop in Eastleigh High Street in 1978, where new furniture sales was also introduced. In 1982 we expanded into a second unit in Portsmouth, and then in 2003 the founders purchased our current 14,000sqft warehouse in Havant, to consolidate both buildings into a single location.

The founders have extensive experience in the furniture sector with over 100 years combined, so although the new brand 'Agilita Workspace' was launched in 2016 it was quickly recognised as a reputable and well-respected business in the industry.

Agilita partners with carefully considered companies that produce sustainable, environmentally-friendly products made from waste materials.

Sustainable furniture is a responsible consumer choice that many forward-thinking companies are looking to embrace. We’ve sourced products that are made from recycled plastic bottles and have designed their products according to the circular design principles which aim to maximise lifetime usage, minimise waste, and ensure that materials can be re-used again and again.

For example, Studio Vix offers ‘Leaf’, an acoustic pinboard using 100% recycled textile felt created out of old denim jeans, as well as ‘Butterfly’ that is made from 100% recycled PET plastic. And Persy Booths have designed sustainably-made acoustic phone booths with sound-absorbent materials made out of 800 recycled plastic bottles and for every booth sold, 10 trees get planted in the Amazon rainforest.

MATERIALS

Many of the products use fabrics or materials that have been carefully selected to keep waste out of landfill; items such as recycled plastic bottles in Persy Booths acoustic panels, old denim upcycled into the leaf-shaped sound-absorbing pinboard by Studio Vix, and TOOtheZOO products only sourcing materials from reputable suppliers in The Netherlands to consciously reduce their carbon footprint.
